Amnesty period ends – 23,500 residence violator register for amnesty

KUWAIT CITY, Apr 30: The Ministry of Interior concluded the amnesty campaign for undocumented expats which was conducted for all nationalities in Kuwait throughout the month of April based on the decision of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anas Al-Saleh

Residence violators were given enough time to come and register at the amnesty centers in Jleeb Al Shuyoukh and Farwwaniya to leave the country without paying any fines and free travel at the expense of Kuwait in addition to the possibility to return back.

23,500 violators of both sexes and all nationalities benefited from the amnesty period which was granted.

On the last day of the deadline, hundreds of violators flocked to the four reception centers in the Farwaniya and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh areas. More then 1,600 men as well as women violators from isolated area of Mahboula area were taken to Jleeb Al Shuyoukh amnesty centers.

The head of the evacuation and sheltering force in the ministry, Major General Abdin Al-Abidin, stated that efforts and coordination by relevant authority have been completed and total of 23,500 undocumented and residence violators have finished their procedures, from those 21,000 have been transferred to the shelters where their date of travel is pending. 2,500 expats travel dates have been affixed.

Abdin explained stated that huge number of violators of the residency law of all communities turned up on the last day, 1,600 expats turned up.

One strange incident was that of the violators of the Indian nationality had surrendered who was in the shelter an arrest warrant was received from the Investigation Department on charges of theft.

Coronavirus infection

Half an hour before the door of amnesty center in Farwaniya was closed, a Nepalese resident was suspected of having infection from coronavirus who applied to finish his procedures, where he was isolated and an ambulance was asked for him, strict and necessary precautions for the workers and violators present in the school were taken.

Violators pay 30,000 KD bill to telecom companies

The three mobile operators accompanied the process of receiving violators wishing to leave, as the companies provided facilities for those who have accumulated bills by deducting 30 percent of the value of the bill.
Companies were able to collect about 30,000 dinars in total during the entire month from the residents who initiated the payment of their dues which were a condition for their acceptance at the reception center for violators.
