KUWAIT CITY, Oct 1: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent a cable of acknowledgement on Friday thanking National Guard President, Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Furthermore His Highness the Amir expressed sincere gratitude to all parties involved in serving to facilitate the 2022 National Assembly elections, as outstanding collaborative efforts acclaimed the process impressively, while also directing special thanks to all MoI departments for their efforts throughout the duration as voters were casting their ballets.

The cable also thanked, Dr. Rana Al-Fares Minister of Municipal Affairs and State Minster of Communications and Information Technology and Acting Minister of State for Housing Affairs and Urban Development, Minister of Information, Culture and Minister of Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, and Dr. Ali Al-Mudahf Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Gratitude was also extended to State Minister for Nazaha and Minster of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Jamal Al- Jalawi, Minister of Health Dr. Khaled Al-Saeed, and Minister of Commerce and Industry, Minster of Social Affairs and Community Development Fahad Al- Shuraian.

His Highness was also pleased of the voter turnout for this year’s elections, as citizens exercise their right to vote in an seamless manner, to strengthen the democratic process which shapes our democratic national government. His Highness the Amir expressed appreciation to the Supreme Judicial Committee supervising the elections, and the efforts put forth to facilitate the voting process in an efficient and transparent manner. His Highness thanked all involved for their efforts to organize this nation’s celebration of democracy, and the exertions that helped facilitate the success of the 2022 National Assembly elections. The way the elections took place reveals Kuwait’s democratic celebration, and its citizen’s devotion to the principal of democracy and the spirit of responsibility and cooperation to exercise their constitutional right that characterizes our society. He also obliged the Supreme Judicial Committee supervising the conduct of these elections, and the efforts put forth to facilitate the voting-polls in a proficient and transparent manner, Asking God Almighty to bestow his hands of grace on all in-service to this country under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf sent on Friday a cable of congratulations to the new members of Parliament who won in the elections for the 17th legislative session of 2022. In his cable His Highness the Amir expressed happiness to the new members after granted the trust of citizens, wishing them the best in their new responsibilities in serving their country. Similar cables congratulating the newly elected members of Parliament were sent by HH the Crown Prince and HH the Prime Minister. The Cabinet held its extraordinary meeting on Saturday, during which it invited the newly elected National Assembly to hold the inaugural session on Oct 11.

Cabinet tenders resignation

The Cabinet meeting ended with the submission of the executive authority’s resignation as per the Constitution. The political leadership will then conduct consultations on the appointment of the new prime minister, followed by the formation of the new government.

On the other hand, the Secretariat General of the National Assembly received the ballots after the parliamentary election. Chairman of the committee tasked to receive the ballots Ali Al-Ali disclosed that they received the ballots from the judiciary board that supervised the election, indicating the ballots will be kept in the specified storage room at the Assembly building until the announcement of rulings on the appeals against election results and then the ballots will be handed over to the Ministry of Interior.

He affirmed these procedures are stipulated in articles 27, 36, 36bis and 39 of the National Assembly Election Law. He added the number of ballots in the 2020 election reached 600 compared to 759 in the recently concluded election. He clarified the number of ballots increased due to Amiri Decree numbers Five and Six for the year 2022, stipulating the addition of new residential areas in the constituencies and voting based on the address in the civil identification card.

Meanwhile, MP-elect Ahmad Al-Saadoun announced his decision to run for the Assembly speaker election. A large number of MPs-elect support Al- Saadoun; hence, the speculation that he will win the speakership. Shortly after his announcement, several MPs-elect thronged to his diwaniya to congratulate him and express their support for his speakership bid; including Shuaib Al-Muwaizri, Alia Al-Khalid, Abdulaziz Al-Saqaabi, Essa Al-Kandari, Hamad Al- Obaid, Osama Al-Shaheen, Faisal Al-Kandari, Shuaib Sha’aban and others. Al-Saadoun ranked first in the Third Constituency with 12,239 votes.
