Amir praised for strengthening Kuwait’s shooting legacy

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30: The Kuwait Asian Shooting Championship officially opens today at 8:00 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The tournament runs from October 31 to November 8, featuring 17 participating countries.

The opening ceremony will be attended by Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud, President of the Asian Shooting Federation and Honorary President of the Kuwait Sports Shooting Club, Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi, President of the Kuwaiti and Arab Shooting Federations, Luciano Rossi, President of the International Shooting Federation, along with government officials and representatives of the participating delegations.

Earlier today, the general assembly of the Asian Shooting Federation convened at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex, chaired by Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud. The assembly will approve the calendar of upcoming continental championships, including events scheduled in Kuwait. Competitions begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Olympic Shooting Complex, featuring men’s and women’s skeet and trap events, and will conclude at 3:00 p.m.

Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud expressed his gratitude for the continuous support of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, which has elevated Kuwaiti shooting on the international stage, both in terms of organisation and competition.

He welcomed Luciano Rossi and the representatives of Asian shooting federations, noting the importance of their participation in both the assembly and the championship.

Sheikh Al-Hamoud highlighted Kuwait’s proven ability to successfully host major tournaments, particularly in shooting, and confirmed that preparations for this championship have been extensive to ensure a high standard of competition.

He also praised the Higher Organizing Committee, its subcommittees, and relevant ministries for their continuous support and dedication to the event’s success.

The participating nations are: Kuwait, Qatar, Pakistan, Lebanon, Indonesia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Japan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, China, Jordan, Italy, and Morocco.
