KUWAIT CITY, Mar 9: The Amir of Kuwait, HH Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, addressed the nation on Monday on the occasion of the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan, urging unity, vigilance, and trust in state institutions amid escalating regional tensions.
In a televised speech carried by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Amir congratulated citizens, residents and visitors on the final days of Ramadan, describing the holy month as a time to reinforce values of patience, solidarity and compassion. He called on the people of Kuwait to remain united and uphold cooperation, consultation and justice as guiding principles for the nation.
His Highness said the region is witnessing rapid developments and unprecedented escalation, stressing that awareness and vigilance have become a national necessity. He urged citizens to avoid rumors and misinformation that could undermine public trust or social cohesion, emphasizing that national unity remains the country’s first line of defense.
The Amir affirmed that the government and security agencies are closely monitoring developments and have raised preparedness levels across the country. He said military, security and civilian institutions are working in coordination to safeguard the country and protect citizens and residents.
Referring to the recent attacks on Kuwait, the Amir said the country had been subjected to “a brutal attack” despite its position of not allowing its territory, airspace or waters to be used for military operations against others. He said the strikes targeted civilian infrastructure and resulted in the deaths of members of the armed forces, an innocent child and several victims from friendly nations, as well as injuries to citizens and residents.
The Amir described the attacks as a flagrant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, stressing that Kuwait’s sovereignty and security are a “red line” that will not be compromised.
He also called on the international community to take firm action to condemn the aggression and ensure respect for international laws. The Amir reaffirmed that the security of member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council is indivisible and expressed Kuwait’s solidarity with regional partners.
The Kuwaiti leader concluded by thanking leaders of friendly and brotherly nations for their support and messages condemning the attacks on Kuwait, while praying for mercy for the victims and recovery for the wounded.
