His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah graces the Kuwait University honoring ceremony for outstanding graduates of the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic years, held Wednesday at Al-Dana Theater in Sabah Al-Salem University City.
KUWAIT CITY, April 30: Kuwait University honored its outstanding graduates, including bachelor’s and postgraduate students, for academic years 2021/2022 and 2022/2023. The ceremony was held at Al-Dana Theater in Sabah Al-Salem University City, under the patronage and in the presence of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The motorcade of His Highness the Amir arrived at the theater; where he was warmly welcomed by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Nader Al-Jalal, Kuwait University President Dr. Dina Al-Mailam and senior university officials. Also present at the event were His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al- Sabah, President of the Supreme Judicial Council and Court of Cassation Counselor Dr. Adel Bouresli, Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, senior State officials, families of the graduating students and a large number of other citizens.
In his speech, Al-Jalal pointed out that His Highness the Amir’s patronage of the ceremony reflects the interest of the wise leadership in education and the people. He said this proves that HH the Amir prioritizes higher education in line with his vision for the nation. He asserted “this blessed gathering combines the honor of Science with the support of the wise leadership. Thus, we express our great gratitude to His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince for their generous patronage of outstanding students. The presence of His Highness the Amir is a reflection of his belief that the renaissance of nations is built by the efforts of their educated citizens.” He stated that the political leadership’s support for higher education institutions has contributed to achieving a qualitative scientific renaissance. He affirmed that Kuwait University is an academic model, which embraces ambitious minds, instills the values of research and innovation in its students, and develops an integrated educational environment that keeps pace with global changes and contributes to building a sustainable knowledge economy. He then addressed the graduates stressing that “today, you are on the threshold of a new phase of giving. Write a glory worthy of your ambitions and raise the name of your country.
Make this excellence a springboard toward broader horizons of excellence and creativity to serve Kuwait.” He expressed his gratitude to the faculty members and parents; emphasizing that this excellence is the result of a joint effort in which everyone participated with dedication and responsibility, making educational outcomes a cornerstone in building society and in achieving a thriving knowledge economy. On the other hand, Kuwait University President Dr. Dina Al-Mailem said “the presence of His Highness the Amir in this celebration reflects the commitment of the wise leadership to support higher education, while promoting the path of Science and innovation.” She thinks this support instills determination and perseverance in students and embodies the deep belief that knowledge is the foundation of the advancement and prosperity of nations. She attributed the remarkable development in education and scientific research at the university to an ambitious national vision that believes in the importance of the university’s role in preparing generations capable of meeting the challenges of the times.
She confirmed that the university works hard to develop its academic programs under international standards, linking them to the manpower needs of the labor market and focusing on the concepts of sustainability, quality, and excellence. She also revealed that this year, the university celebrated the graduation of 352 graduates at the bachelor’s, masteral and doctoral levels. She stressed this confirms the commitment of the university to produce competent individuals who will contribute to national development. “The university also focuses on empowering students with special needs and providing an inclusive educational environment,” she added. She highlighted the university’s achievements in the field of space, including the establishment of the Kuwait National Center for Space Research in cooperation with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS); as well as the development of programs related to cybersecurity and artificial intelligence as part of the drive toward a digital economy. She thanked His Highness the Amir for his continued support for the university, indicating that the university continues to fulfill its academic and research mission and is committed to the national vision of achieving excellence and leadership.
