Amir condoles as Iraq deadly fire claims more than 100

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 27, (Agencies): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah on Wednesday addressed cables to Iraqi President Abdulatif Rashid and Prime Minister Mohammad Shayaa Al- Sudani expressing wholehearted condolences on the people who lost their lives in a fire at a hall during a wedding in Ninawa in North Iraq. His Highness the Amir prayed for souls of the deceased, for the bereaved families so they may patiently bear loss of their loved ones, wished the injured quick recovery and safety for the whole people of Iraq.

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah also addressed cables to Iraqi President Abdulatif Rashid and Prime Minister Mohammad Shayaa Al-Sudani expressing wholehearted condolences. His Highness the Crown Prince prayed for souls of the deceased and wished the injured quick recovery. Speaker of the National Assembly Ahmad Al-Saadoun sent a cable of condolences to the Iraqi parliament Speaker Mohamed Al-Halbousi, expressing condolences over a wedding fire in an area in Nineveh governorate, which claimed a number of lives and caused injury of several individuals. Al-Saadoun expressed hopes for the swift recovery for those injured and solace for the victims’ families.

Meanwhile, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah addressed cables to Iraqi President Abdulatif Rashid and Prime Minister Mohammad Shayaa Al-Sudani expressing wholehearted condolences on the people who lost their lives in a fire at a hall during a wedding in Ninawa in North Iraq. A raging fire seemingly caused by fireworks set off to celebrate a Christian wedding consumed a hall packed with guests in northern Iraq, killing more than 100 people and injuring 150 others as authorities warned Wednesday the death toll could still rise. Authorities said that flammable building materials also contributed to the latest disaster to hit Iraq’s dwindling Christian minority. In the fire’s chaotic aftermath, officials offered conflicting death tolls and security officials said they had detained staff at the wedding hall as part of their investigation.
