MADRID, Aug 11: Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez has reportedly expressed his frustration with coach Diego Simeone after failing to meet with him to discuss his desire to leave the club for Barcelona.

Alvarez returned to Atletico training on Monday for the first time since the 2026 World Cup final and was expected to speak with Simeone about his future. However, the Argentine coach had traveled to Ibiza for a two-day break, according to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

The situation reportedly angered Alvarez, who remains determined to pursue a move to Barcelona. He is said to have questioned Simeone’s decision to leave despite knowing that the player wanted to discuss his future with him.

Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin was also absent and reportedly did not meet with Alvarez.

The Argentine striker is believed to have made his frustration clear to club officials, warning that his patience was running out and telling them not to count on him for next season.

Alvarez joined Atletico from Manchester City and has established himself as one of the club’s key attacking players. However, his reported desire to move to Barcelona has now created uncertainty over his future at the Madrid club.
