KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: The “Alnowair Initiative” celebrated on Sunday the graduation of 35 participants from its “Women of the Future” program aiming to develop females’ leadership skills, strengthen their role in decision-making, and promote their active participation in the workplace and society. The program’s closing ceremony was held under the patronage of Sheikha Intisar Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, the founder and chairwoman of the Alnowair Initiative, completing four months of training funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kuwait, in strategic partnership with the European Union and the Commercial Bank of Kuwait. In her speech during the ceremony, Sheikha Intisar Al-Sabah said that true leadership does not begin with a title, but with a decision a woman makes to understand herself, confront her fears, believe in her worth and abilities, and have the courage to express her views.

In a similar speech, Dutch Ambassador to Kuwait Wierish Ramsoekh said that concerted efforts were essential to promoting women’s empowerment, noting that progress in this area does not happen automatically. He added that making changes requires a shared vision, building partnerships and collective action to support efforts aimed at empowering women. Meanwhile, EU Ambassador to Kuwait Anne Koistinen congratulated the participants on completing the program, underlining the importance of initiatives that enable women to develop their capabilities and assume leadership roles. She extolled the Alnowair Initiative for building partnerships that create new opportunities for women and urged the graduates to maintain the network of connections they had established during the program.

Dana Al-Dhafiri, a program participant, told KUNA that the program had enabled her to interact with participants from various sectors to learn about their professional roles. She noted that the experience strengthened her communication and professional and social networking skills and equipped her with expertise beyond her day-to-day job responsibilities. The ceremony was attended by United Nations Resident Coordinator in Kuwait Ghada Al-Taher, Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Parmita Tripathi, Canadian Ambassador to Kuwait Tara Scheurwater, and several senior officials from the Commercial Bank of Kuwait.
