KUWAIT CITY, Oct 19: The Public Prosecution has ordered the detention of all 22 defendants in the case widely known in the media as the “Almost Naked Men In Women's Dancewear” for 10 days pending investigations, following their arrest in connection with a gathering at a hotel in the Capital Governorate.
The defendants have been charged with inciting debauchery and indecency. They have been remanded to Revenue Prison as investigations continue, according to the information released about the case.
The latest development follows the security operation reported earlier by Arab Times, in which police initially arrested 17 people during a raid on a gathering at a five-star hotel after receiving complaints about loud music, shouting and disturbances.
Five people reportedly escaped during the initial operation but were subsequently arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department within 24 hours, bringing the total number of detainees to 22.
The earlier report said that five men were found wearing women’s dancewear and were described as being almost naked. It also reported that some people at the gathering appeared intoxicated or possibly under the influence of drugs. These details formed part of the initial media reports, while the investigation and legal proceedings are continuing.
Identity checks reportedly revealed that several of those detained were officers serving in the ministries of Interior and Defense or other government entities. One detainee was also identified as the son of a former National Assembly member.
The latest prosecution order places all 22 defendants in detention for 10 days while the authorities continue their investigations into the alleged offences.
The defendants remain accused at this stage, and the charges will be subject to the applicable legal proceedings.
