KUWAIT CITY, Nov 10: Visas of all types — commercial, tourist and governmental — including family entry visas (children below 16 years of age and spouses) remain suspended despite the recent decisions issued by the government in this regard with the exception of issuance of visas for some jobs in the medical field and teaching sector, reports Al-Qabas daily. The daily paid a visit to the residence affairs departments and met directors of these departments in the six governorates to get first hand information on the issue and learned clear and explicit instructions have been issued to be strict while issuing entry visas to expatriates, and not open the door ‘randomly’ for everyone who applies for the visa.

The tour showed no undocumented transactions from Kuwaiti embassies abroad will be accepted, and expatriates who want to bring in their family must earn a salary of 500 dinars or more. In case of the family arrives on visit visa this will be valid for three months only after which the sponsor (the husband/father) must send his wife/ children back to their country. An official source told the daily so far the residence affairs departments in the six governorates have completed about 7,000 various types of transactions — 45% of which are believed to be of commercial nature.
