Al-Qadsia player dunks during a league game.

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 23: Today’s eighth-round matches in the Second Division basketball league will see Al-Qadsia face Al-Nasr at 5:30 PM at the Union Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex, followed by Al-Sulaibikhat vs Al-Qurain at 7:30 PM in the same venue.

Kuwait Club tops the standings with 14 points from 7 wins and no losses, followed closely by Kazma and Al-Qadsia each with 12 points from 5 wins and 2 losses. Al-Qurain and Al-Sulaibikhat are tied at 11 points, Al-Nasr has 9 points, Al-Sahel has 8 points, and Al-Arabi remains at the bottom with 7 losses. The league features a three-division system, with the top four teams advancing to the Golden Square playoffs, played in a best-of-three format.

The Al-Sulaibikhat vs Al-Qurain game is crucial, likely deciding the fourth playoff spot alongside the top three—Kuwait Club, Kazma, and Al-Qadsia—who are expected to secure their places. In the first division, Al-Sulaibikhat edged Qurain 89-86, but Qurain quickly rebounded with a win over Al-Qadsia in the second round, making it a strong contender. Under national coach Yahya Kleib, Qurain seeks revenge and a higher ranking, while Al-Sulaibikhat, led by Coach Fahad Barjas, aims to secure the win and move closer to a top-four finish.

Meanwhile, Al-Qadsia is heavily favored against Al-Nasr, given the clear difference in team strength.
