KUWAIT CITY, Feb 14: Fadila Al-Shweilan, Chairwoman of Al-Fatat Sports Club, expressed her pride in the club’s players following their success at the recent Arab Women’s Club Games in Sharjah. She emphasized that “their achievement goes beyond rankings or titles — it represents a national message carried with responsibility and excellence.”

Speaking to Al-Seyassah as she welcomed the players back at Kuwait Airport, Al-Shuweilan said: “I congratulate my daughters on this outstanding accomplishment. They honored the trust placed in them, proving that Kuwaiti women’s sports can compete and shine internationally. We reached our goal, raised our national flag high, and delighted our supporters with this triumph.”

She added that the team’s participation reflected a deep sense of national pride: “The players understood that representing Kuwait comes before the club. When competing abroad, they carry the flag of Kuwait in their hearts even before raising it above their heads.”

Al-Shuweilan called on authorities to continue supporting the athletes: “We hope relevant organizations recognize their achievements, reward their efforts, and boost their morale with ongoing support and deserved incentives for raising Kuwait’s name and flag in Arab and regional competitions.”

Highlighting the importance of local competitions, she noted: “Sustaining league, cup, and tournament play is essential for producing international success. We encourage the Public Authority for Sports, the Kuwait Olympic Committee, and all federations to maintain consistent local competitions, as stability is key to preparing players who can represent the nation at their best.”

She concluded by thanking sports authorities for their support, particularly the Public Authority for Sports, the Kuwait Olympic Committee, and the basketball, table tennis, and taekwondo federations, for facilitating the players’ participation. “This support is invaluable and shows everyone’s commitment to the growth of women’s sports,” she said.
