KUWAIT CITY, Oct 3: The Kuwait Handball Federation’s Ordinary General Assembly will convene at 7 pm today at its headquarters in Daiya to hold supplementary elections for the federation’s board of directors.
The elections are being held to fill the vacant positions of president and assistant secretary-general following the resignation of former president Engineer Fouad Al-Bloushi and assistant secretary-general Abdullah Al-Dhayab.
Former Al-Qurain Club president Engineer Ahmed Al-Shuraieh is the sole candidate for the presidency and is expected to be elected by acclamation.
The assistant secretary-general position will see a contest between Shabab Club representative Falah Menahi Al-Azmi and Kazma representative Mohammed Al-Khamis.
The General Assembly will begin after the required quorum is reached, with members expected to review the election procedures, vote on the candidates, and then announce and approve the results.
The supplementary elections come as Kuwaiti handball prepares for a busy period, including the start of the new domestic season and upcoming international commitments.
Completing the federation’s board is expected to provide a fuller administrative structure to oversee the development of the sport, national teams, and domestic competitions in the coming period.
