Al-Sharieh is the sole candidate for the handball presidency

KUWAIT CITY, Sept. 26: The nomination period for the supplementary elections of the Kuwait Handball Federation closed last Thursday, with the vote scheduled for Oct. 4 to elect a president and assistant secretary-general after the two positions became vacant following the resignations of President Eng. Fouad Al-Balushi and Assistant Secretary-General Abdullah Al-Thayab.

Ahmed Al-Sharieh, former president of Al-Qurain Sports Club, is the sole candidate for the presidency after no other candidate entered the race before nominations closed.

The assistant secretary-general position, meanwhile, will be contested by Al Shabab Club representative Falah Menahi Al-Azmi and Kazma Club representative Mohammed Al-Khamis. Both are seeking the support of the federation’s General Assembly members.

The candidates and member clubs are expected to hold meetings and consultations in the days leading up to the Oct. 4 vote, which comes as the federation faces several important commitments and files in the coming period.

The supplementary elections are being held while the federation continues to organize its domestic competitions and prepare the national teams for upcoming international commitments. The new board will face several pressing issues requiring timely decisions and administrative stability.
