Al-Sharbatly clinches “Atyab Al-Marshoud” Show Jumping title

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 11: Saudi Olympic rider Abdullah Al-Sharbatly delivered a commanding performance to capture the title of the 12th “Atyab Al-Marshoud” International Show Jumping Championship, a World Cup-qualifying event held at the Kuwait Equestrian Center with participation from riders representing Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria, Britain, Hungary, and Italy.

Al-Sharbatly topped the Grand Prix class over 150cm, clocking 35.66 seconds without penalties to secure first place and a $15,000 prize following the jump-off. Hussain Al-Kharafi, Anaz Al-Anaz, Yara Al-Hunaidi, Ali Al-Kharafi, and Abdulrahman Al-Mudhahka followed him. The winners were crowned by Waleed Sulaiman Al-Marshoud, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, in the presence of representatives of the sponsoring companies.

The Saudi rider dedicated the achievement to the Saudi leadership and people, as well as equestrian fans, praising the continued support provided by Waleed Al-Marshoud for the sport at both local and international levels.

Kuwait’s Abdullah Al-Awadhi claimed the Medium Tour title over 135cm, ahead of Mohammed Al-Marshoud and Layan bin Issa, while Fawaz Rashid won the Small Tour over 125cm.

Meanwhile, national team rider Anaz Al-Anaz, representing Sahara Resort, claimed the Grand Prix titles over 140cm and 145cm on the opening two days of the championship.

Event patron Waleed Sulaiman Al-Marshoud expressed his delight at the tournament’s success, highlighting the steady improvement in riders’ technical standards from one season to the next. He also congratulated Abdullah Al-Sharbatly on winning the prestigious title and welcomed him to Kuwait among his fellow riders.
