KUWAIT CITY, June 10: The Zain Premier League resumes today following a 10-day international break, with Al-Shabab taking on Al-Jahra in the lone fixture of Round 18 at Al-Ahmadi Stadium.

The round will continue tomorrow with Kuwait Club facing Al-Salmiya and Al-Nasr meeting Kazma, before concluding on Friday with the much-anticipated derby between Al-Qadsia and Al-Arabi. Al-Tadamon will also square off against Al-Fahaheel.

Kuwait Club remains firmly on top of the standings with 43 points, 12 ahead of the nearest challenger, Al-Qadsia. Al-Arabi occupies third place with 29 points, level with Al-Salmiya but ahead on head-to-head record. Kazma sits fifth on 27 points, while Al-Fahaheel is sixth with 21.

Al-Nasr holds seventh place with 16 points, one ahead of both Al-Shabab and Al-Tadamon. At the bottom of the table, Al-Jahra has collected just eight points from their campaign.

Tonight's encounter carries major significance for both sides. Al-Jahra enters the match determined to avenge their 2-1 defeat to Al-Shabab in the first phase of the season and keep alive their slim hopes of avoiding relegation. Victory is essential for the struggling side, while any other result would officially condemn them to the First Division.

Al-Shabab, meanwhile, is chasing its first win in eight matches. Its most recent victory came against Al-Jahra earlier in the season, after which it endured six defeats and two draws. A positive result would also boost its chances of climbing back to seventh place after slipping to ninth following a disappointing run of form.
