ISTANBUL, Aug 8: Al-Salmiya has completed its foreign-player roster with the signing of Gabon international winger David Sambissa from Turkish club Istanbulspor ahead of the new season.
The 30-year-old joins Congolese defender Tresor Tshibwabwa, Uzbek Shakhzod Azmiddinov, Bahraini Abdullah Yusuf and Syrian Mahmoud Al-Aswad as the club’s foreign players.
Sambissa brings considerable experience to the “Samawi,” having previously played for French side Bordeaux, Dutch clubs Young Twente and Cambuur, and Turkish outfit Istanbulspor.
He represented France at the youth level before switching to the Gabon senior national team, for whom he has featured in Africa Cup of Nations competitions.
Meanwhile, Al-Salmiya was held to a goalless draw by Qatar’s Al-Markhiya in its second friendly during its training camp in Turkey.
