Al-Salmiya seeks to maintain the lead against Al-Sulaibikhat

KUWAIT CITY, March 23: The Salmiya Club’s premier handball team is determined to maintain its position at the pinnacle of the handball league as it faces off against Al-Sulaibikhat in the sixth round of matches at 10:00 pm. Preceding this clash at 8:00 pm is the encounter between Al-Arabi and Yarmouk, all taking place at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex Hall in the Sabah Al-Salem suburb. Khaitan play Al-Nasr, while Kazma will face Al-Qurain. The highly anticipated match between Kuwait Club and Al-Qadisiya will take place on Sunday.

Recapping the fifth-round matches held last Thursday, Al-Salmiya clinched a hard-fought victory over Al-Qurain with a score of 28-27, while Al-Arabi secured a win against Kazma with a score of 27-25.

The standings after the fifth round are as follows: Al-Salmiya leads with 10 points from five matches, followed by Kuwait Club and Kazma with eight points each from four and five matches respectively. Al-Arabi follows with six points from five matches, while Al-Qurain and Al-Sulaibikhat both have five points from five and four matches respectively. Al-Fahaheel holds four points, while Yarmouk, Al-Nasr, Al-Qadisiya, and Burgan each have three points. Khaitan holds two points, while Al-Sahel and Al-Tadamon are yet to secure a point.

The Competitions Committee of the Handball Federation has adjusted the schedule of upcoming general league matches due to the postponement of two matches caused by recent adverse weather conditions. The matches will now take place from the 23rd of this month and conclude on the 16th of next May.
