KUWAIT CITY, Aug 11: Al-Salmiya's board of directors has renewed the contract of Croatian coach Ante Misha for an additional two seasons, extending his leadership of the team until June 2027.
Misha, who was initially signed by Al-Salmiya last January for a season and a half, guided the "Sky Blues" to the Amir Cup final last season, where they narrowly lost to Al-Qadisiya by a single goal. Notably, Misha had previously led Al-Arabi to its first Premier League title in 20 years. Al-Salmiya beat Al-Nasr 3-1 in the opening round of the Zain Premier League.
Following the win, Misha commented, "The first match is always challenging. We didn't have many friendly matches during the camp," but expressed his satisfaction with his players' performance against Al-Nasr, acknowledging their solid effort. He added, "We deserved the win. We created numerous opportunities and controlled most of the match," and expressed hope that his team would maintain this level of performance in the upcoming rounds.
