Al-Rufaid brothers claim gold at the AJP Asia Jiu-Jitsu Championship

ABU DHABI, Sept. 16: Kuwaiti brothers Obaid and Abdullah Hamoud Al-Rufaid, both just seven years old, struck gold in their respective age categories at the AJP Asia Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Abu Dhabi.

The young fighters capped an impressive run after competing in 30 bouts across five tournaments as part of their participation in three international jiu-jitsu events. They secured first place in their respective divisions at the Asian championship, which attracted more than 2,000 competitors across different age groups and weight categories.

UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation Vice President Mohammed Salem Al-Dhaheri and board member Yousef Abdullah Al-Batran presented the Kuwaiti brothers with their gold medals.

The two youngsters drew praise from technical and administrative officials for their strong performances despite their young age.

Obaid and Abdullah said they were proud to represent Kuwait and raise the country’s flag at regional and international competitions. They also vowed to continue their winning streak as they prepare to compete in the Qatar International Championship in Doha next month.
