KUWAIT CITY, June 20: Al-Qadsia Club handball team manager Sami Boyaabs confirmed that the club’s technical staff has prepared a comprehensive three-year development plan covering all team levels, stressing that it will be presented to the board of directors for approval in the coming period.
Boyaabs dismissed reports circulating on social media about the cancellation of the first handball team, describing them as baseless. He affirmed that the team will take part in the upcoming league season, as part of a broader strategy aimed at rebuilding the squad and renewing its roster, while placing greater focus on youth teams as the foundation for the club’s future.
He also announced the appointment of local coach Walid Salmeen to lead the team’s technical staff next season, noting that decisions regarding foreign player signings will be made in coordination with the coaching staff after the club’s plan is approved, in line with long-term sporting goals.
Boyaabs added that the department is working to build a competitive team through structured technical and administrative planning that ensures stability, continuity, and improved results in the coming years.
He noted that several first-team players recently saw their contracts expire, including Nawaf Al-Shammari and goalkeeper Fahd Karam, while Abdulaziz Salmeen renewed his contract for four years and was loaned to Kazma for two seasons. These developments have fueled speculation among fans about the future of the first team and a possible shift toward promoting youth players.
