KUWAIT CITY, Nov 9: Al-Qadsia continued its upward climb in the Zain Premier League, securing a second straight win after defeating hosts Al-Jahra 2-0 at Mubarak Al-Ayyar Stadium in the eighth round.
Rashid Al-Dosari opened the scoring in stoppage time of the first half (45+1), while Abdullah Al-Awadhi sealed the victory with a goal in the 59th minute.
With the win, Al-Qadsia raised its tally to 14 points to temporarily move into second place, while Al-Jahra remained in eighth with seven points. It was Al-Qadsia‘s fourth win of the season and second in a row, following its 3-0 triumph over Al-Tadamon in the previous round.
Rising star Abdullah Al-Awadhi expressed delight at netting his first goal of the season for Al-Qadsia, describing the team’s performance as convincing and spirited. He said that starting in the lineup motivates him to deliver stronger performances in the upcoming matches.
Meanwhile, Eid Al-Rashidi noted that the current league break provides a good opportunity to regroup and review past performances. He added that the season is still in its early stages and that Al-Qadsia remains a strong contender both domestically and in Gulf competitions, aiming to maintain momentum and readiness for the coming period.
Algerian defender Sofiane Bouchar acknowledged that recent poor results had put pressure on the players but emphasized that the three points against Al-Jahra were crucial. He praised the team’s fighting spirit and vowed continued effort to stay among the league’s top competitors.
On the other side, Al-Jahra captain Obaid Rafeh admitted that Al-Qadsia deserved the victory, adding that his team tried to match its opponent but “things didn’t go as planned.” He expressed confidence that Al-Jahra would bounce back in the upcoming matches.
