KUWAIT CITY, July 30: Al-Qadsia began its pre-season preparations in Turkey with a 1-1 draw against Saudi side Al-Zulfi in its opening friendly match of the training camp in Yalova.
Bader Al-Mutawa put the “Yellow” ahead from the penalty spot, while the match also saw new signing Khaled Al-Kharqawi make his first appearance after joining on loan from Kuwait Club.
Coach Mohammed Ibrahim used the friendly to test several players and provide valuable playing time to members of the squad. Al-Qadsia is scheduled to play more warm-up games before concluding their camp and returning to Kuwait on August 14.
The team is preparing for the AFC Challenge League campaign, as well as the new Kuwait Premier League season, which kicks off on August 25.
Meanwhile, Al-Qadsia has officially completed the registration of Abdulwahab Al-Shallal after reaching an agreement with Al-Jahra, clearing the way for the midfielder to represent the club.
The club praised the cooperation between both sides, saying the agreement reflects the strong relationship between Al-Qadsia and Al-Jahra and their commitment to resolving matters positively and professionally.
Al-Qadsia also expressed its gratitude to Al-Jahra president Yousef Karim for his role in finalising the deal, while Al-Shallal thanked Al-Qadsia’s management and officials for their confidence and support. He also acknowledged Al-Jahra’s cooperation in facilitating the move.
Al-Salmiya will travel to Turkey today to begin their overseas training camp as part of their preparations for the upcoming season.
The “Sky Blues” are scheduled to play several friendly matches during the camp before returning to Kuwait on August 20.
Al-Nasr has finalised its football department and first-team technical staff for the 2026-27 season as part of their preparations for the new campaign.
Board member Asbih Al-Adwani will oversee the football department, with Salem Nasser appointed as deputy and Mohammed Mujahid taking charge of professional affairs.
The first-team coaching staff will be led by national coach Thaher Al-Adwani, assisted by Fahad Al-Mnees and Nebojša Šćepović, with Armin Zagorovic serving as goalkeeping coach and Rajko Ivanovic appointed fitness coach.
The club said the early appointments are aimed at ensuring administrative and technical stability while creating the right conditions for a successful season.
