Al-Qadisiya dominates Al-Ibtisam in West Asian Club Championship

MUSCAT, Feb 3: Al-Qadisiya volleyball team secured a convincing victory over Al-Ibtisam of Saudi Arabia in the opening matches of the Second West Asian Club Championship in the Sultanate of Oman. The scoreline reflected a dominant performance, with Al-Qadisiya  winning three games to nil, with set scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-19.  Simultaneously in the same group, Al-Seeb of Oman achieved a similar result by defeating Bani Yas Al Emirati.

In the upcoming second round at the Sohar Sports Complex hall, Al-Qadisiya  will face off against Al-Seeb at three in the afternoon. Additionally, within the same group, Al-Rayyan of Qatar will compete against Al-Ibtisam of Saudi Arabia. In the second group, “Al-Kuwait” is scheduled to clash with Shabab Al-Hussein of Jordan at 1:00 pm, followed by the match between Sohar Omani and Al-Ahly of Bahrain.

Shifting focus to domestic competitions, the Volleyball Association released the schedule for the Federation Cup Championship, slated to commence in early March and conclude on the 21st of the same month. The tournament opener will witness Yarmouk and Sulaibikhat facing off.

Moreover, the association provided a schedule for postponed matches from the General League involving the currently participating teams in West Asia, namely “Kuwait,” Al-Qadisiyah, and Kazma, set to compete in Al-Arabiya. These postponed matches are scheduled from the 16th of this month until the 10th of next March.

Looking ahead, the Golden Quadrant for the Volleyball League, featuring teams ranked first to fourth, is scheduled from March 24 to April 5. The Silver Quadrant, hosting teams from fifth to eighth, will take place from April 4 to 8.In other league action, Al-Arabi secured a hard-fought victory over Al-Yarmouk with a score of 3-2 in the General Volleyball League.
