Al-Otaibi Sports Day initiative well-received – 23 sports associations and clubs welcome idea

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 7: The initiative of Deputy Chairman of Kuwait Olympic Committee and Head of Arab and Kuwait Shooting Federations Engr Duaij Al-Otaibi to organize Kuwait Sports Day on December 17 at Jaber International Stadium was well-received by 23 sports associations and clubs, as per a press release.

During a meeting presided over by Engr Al-Otaibi and held on Sunday, Nov 6 in the presence of representatives from the sports associations and clubs, the latter expressed support for holding such an event annually. They provided suggestions and opinions regarding the initiative and discussed the mechanism for carrying out the event.

Al-Otaibi said all representatives at the meeting welcomed the idea and expressed their readiness to cooperate, participate and work on ensuring the success of the initiative, especially since it will help promote joint sports activities among the sports associations for all Olympic games under the umbrella of Kuwait Olympic Committee.

He indicated that Kuwait has never organized such joint games and this will give the youth of the country the opportunity to participate and compete in sports competitions.

Al-Otaibi affirmed the commitment of the interim committee to activate the role of the Olympic Committee to develop sports at all levels. He stressed that the initiative to hold Kuwait Sports Day reflects the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to provide the country’s youth with opportunities to practice sports.

Al-Otaibi thanked the Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah, Director of Public Authority for Sports Sheikh Ahmad Al-Mansour and Chairman of Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahad Al-Jaber Al-Ali as well as the heads of sports associations and clubs for their support and keenness to contribute in organizing Kuwait Sports Day.
