DOHA, Dec 21: Kuwait’s Al-Nasr Club weightlifter Mohammed Al-Otaibi produced a standout performance at the Arab and West Asia Weightlifting Championships for seniors, juniors, and youth, currently taking place in Doha until the 27th of the month, after collecting a total of nine medals.
Al-Otaibi secured two silver medals and seven bronzes, reaffirming the strength and growing reputation of Kuwaiti weightlifting and the athletes’ determination to deliver strong results and achievements for Kuwait on the regional stage.
Kuwait Weightlifting Federation President Talal Al-Jassar praised the achievement, describing it as a clear reflection of the progress of the sport in Kuwait, which continues to produce talented lifters capable of raising the national flag at international competitions. He added that the federation remains committed to identifying promising talents and preparing them effectively for upcoming external events.
Al-Otaibi dedicated his success to Kuwait and to the sport of weightlifting, expressing his ambition to continue achieving further accomplishments in the future.
The athlete was trained and prepared for the championships by his father, Hamid Al-Otaibi, alongside Georgian coach Amiran Shitadze and Saudi coach Munir Darwish.
