KUWAIT CITY, June 18: The General Assembly of the Arab Handball Federation, held on Thursday in Jeddah, endorsed Kuwait Handball Federation member Talal Zaid Al-Otaibi as a member of the federation’s Executive Committee for the 2026–2028 term.
Al-Otaibi expressed his gratitude to the Kuwait Handball Federation for its confidence and nomination, as well as to the Arab Federation’s General Assembly for endorsing his appointment.
He said the selection carries great responsibility and serves as strong motivation to continue contributing to the development of Arab handball at all levels. He also stressed his commitment to representing Kuwait in the best possible way and supporting the Arab Federation’s programs and plans.
His appointment adds to Kuwait’s growing presence in Arab sports bodies, reflecting the trust in Kuwaiti expertise and its active role in advancing handball across the region.
The General Assembly also endorsed Saudi Handball Federation President Hassan Nasr Hilal as President of the Arab Handball Federation, succeeding fellow Saudi official Fadel Al-Nemer. The meeting further approved several vice-presidential positions, including Egypt’s Khaled Fathy Omar representing Central and Southern Arab countries, Morocco’s Adel Al-Hanafi for North Africa, Oman’s Musa Al-Balushi for the Gulf region, and Jordan’s Dr. Taysir Mansour for Northern Arab countries. The UAE’s Dr. Mona Al-Reisi also ran for the vice presidency representing women’s sports.
