HONG KONG, Aug 19: Al-Nassr booked its spot in the Saudi Super Cup final with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Al-Ittihad in the semi-final held in Hong Kong. Sadio Mané and João Félix scored for Al-Nassr, while Steven Bergwijn netted Al-Ittihad’s lone goal.

Red cards have become a recurring theme for Al-Nassr in recent Super Cup editions. This time, Sadio Mané was shown a red card in the 25th minute after a strong challenge on Al-Ittihad goalkeeper Hamed Al-Shanqeeti, following a VAR review.

Al-Nassr has now seen at least one player sent off in each of the last three Super Cup tournaments. The trend started in 2024 when Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off against Al-Hilal, and last season, Marcelo Brozović received a red card in stoppage time despite a 2-0 semi-final win over Al-Taawoun.
