KUWAIT CITY, Feb 6: The 14th round of the Zain Premier League begins tomorrow with two matches. Al-Nasr will face Al-Tadamon at Ali Sabah Al-Salem Stadium at 6:00 pm, while Al-Fahaheel will take on Al-Salmiya at Al-Shabab Stadium at 8:15 pm.
The action continues on Sunday as Khaitan hosts Al-Arabi, and Kuwait Club meets Al-Yarmouk. The round concludes on Monday with a high-profile clash between Al-Qadsiya and Kazma at Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium.
In a much-anticipated "Farwaniya Derby," ninth-placed Al-Nasr (6 points) is desperate for a win to close the gap with sixth-placed Al-Tadamon (14 points). A victory could help Al-Nasr escape the danger zone, while a loss might push it to the bottom of the table if Al-Yarmouk (10th, 5 points) secures a positive result.
Al-Nasr also seeks redemption after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Al-Tadamon in their first encounter this season. Meanwhile, Al-Tadamon aims to bounce back from a three-match losing streak, which saw it drop to seventh place after a crushing 4-0 defeat against Kazma in the last round.
The second match of the round sees Al-Salmiya (4th, 23 points) take on Al-Fahaheel (5th, 20 points) in a crucial battle for the fourth spot. Both teams need a win after suffering defeats in the previous round—Al-Salmiya fell 2-1 to Al-Qadisiyah, while Al-Fahaheel lost 3-1 to Al-Arabi.
With the second phase of the season approaching, neither team can afford to drop points, especially as Kazma is gaining momentum and pushing for a top-six finish. Al-Salmiya and Al-Fahaheel, who played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in their first meeting, are determined to avoid slipping into the relegation zone and solidify their place in the championship race.
