MUSCAT, Feb 15: Al-Nahda Club secured the 2025-2026 Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Cup title, defeating Oman Club 2-0 in a thrilling final.
This triumph marks Al-Nahda’s second victory in the competition after six previous attempts, where they had reached the final and finished as runners-up. The final was held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat, attended by the Sultan’s representative, Minister of State, and Governor of Muscat, Belarab bin Haitham.
Oman Club dominated the early stages of the match, controlling possession in the first half. However, the game turned in the 35th minute when the referee issued a red card to Oman player Mohammed Al-Maashari for a harsh tackle on Intres Ji, reducing Oman to ten men.
Al-Nahda quickly capitalized on the numerical advantage, controlling the closing minutes of the first half. In stoppage time, fullback Ahmed Al-Kaabi delivered a cross that deflected off Oman defender Basel Al-Rawahi and into the net, giving Al-Nahda the lead.
In the second half, Al-Nahda maintained high pressure and secured the win with a second goal. Substitute Mohammed Al-Ghafri converted a cross from a teammate late in the match, sealing the 2-0 victory and the coveted cup for Al-Nahda.
