Al-Mutairi sponsors inaugural West Asia Women’s Volleyball Championship

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 20: Salwa Al-Sabah Club, in collaboration with the West Asian Volleyball Federation, has announced that Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi will sponsor the first West Asia Women’s Club Volleyball Championship. The tournament will be held at the late Khalid Al-Marzouq Hall from December 3 to 13, hosted by Salwa Al-Sabah Club.

The tournament draw placed host club Salwa Al-Sabah in the highly competitive Group B alongside Al-Arabi (Qatar), Sharjah (UAE), and Al-Nasr (Yemen). Group A features Qatar SC, Al-Fatat (Kuwait), Al-Ula (Saudi Arabia), and Al-Qalamoun (Lebanon), while Group C includes Al-Nasr (Jordan), Al-Quds (Palestine), Al-Fayha (Saudi Arabia), and Sanharib (Iraq).

Al-Mutairi’s sponsorship reflects the championship’s significance and the strong participation of Arab clubs from across West Asia. It also recognizes Salwa Al-Sabah Club’s proven track record in successfully hosting numerous Arab and international tournaments, demonstrating organizational excellence under Chairperson Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The hosting agreement was signed in the presence of Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad and West Asian Volleyball President Ali Al-Kuwari. The federation praised Salwa Al-Sabah Club for its initiative, highlighting Kuwait’s commitment to supporting women’s sports, fostering a competitive environment, and advancing the development of women’s volleyball across the region.
