KUWAIT CITY, Nov 1: Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi has highlighted that Kuwait’s hosting of the 2026 General Assembly of the Asian Sports Press Federation underscores the nation’s leadership in sports journalism across Asia and reflects its prominent role in the regional media landscape.

Speaking after a meeting with the Chairman and members of the Kuwaiti Sports Media Committee at the Public Authority for Sport, Minister Al-Mutairi emphasized that Kuwait’s ability to organize major sports and tourism events stems from its highly skilled administrative and technical teams, particularly its youth, considered a vital national asset.

He added that holding such sports media gatherings enhances institutional and administrative excellence, which is essential for the success of these events and in promoting Kuwait’s modern and sophisticated image on the regional and international stage.

The minister confirmed that the government will provide full support and facilitation to the Kuwaiti Sports Media Committee to ensure the success of the assembly, praising the committee’s dedicated preparation efforts.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sattam Al-Suhaili, Chairman of the Kuwaiti Sports Media Committee and President of the Asian Sports Press Federation, expressed his gratitude for Minister Al-Mutairi’s unwavering support of Kuwaiti media, especially sports journalism, which plays a crucial role in covering local and international sporting events.

Dr. Al-Suhaili added that the committee, in coordination with the Asian federation, began preparations early for the assembly, which will welcome some of the most prominent sports media figures from Asia and around the world, further highlighting Kuwait’s leading role in regional sports media.
