LOS ANGELES, Sept 22: World Aquatics President Captain Husain Al-Musallam led a delegation visit to Los Angeles and Long Beach, inspecting venues designated for swimming, water polo, diving, artistic swimming, and open-water events in preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics. The tour also included a review of updated designs for pools, spectator stands, athlete preparation areas, and planned sports showcases. A stop at the iconic SoFi Stadium was also part of the visit.
Al-Musallam was joined by World Aquatics Treasurer Dale Neuburger, Executive Bureau Member and Olympic champion Daniel Gyurta, CEO Brent Nowicki, and Ahmed Al-Saabi, Director of the President’s Office.
Representatives from LA28 included CEO General Reynold Hoover, Olympic champion and Chief Athlete Officer Janet Evans, Chief of Sport and Games Shana Ferguson, Vice President of Sport Nicola Campriani, and Sport Director Karli Brashear.
Captain Al-Musallam praised the scale of the project and its anticipated impact on aquatic sports, noting that the venue is planned to hold up to 39,000 spectators, with dedicated seating areas for athletes to watch the competitions.
