SEOUL, Dec 1: Captain Husain Al-Musallam, President of World Aquatics and Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), has been appointed Honorary Dean of a newly established graduate school in Seoul dedicated to Olympic-focused studies. The institution, based at Kookmin University, serves as the OCA’s Graduate School for Sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Standards.

The official appointment ceremony is being jointly organized by the International Sports Strategy Foundation (ISF) and Kookmin University, reflecting the growing global emphasis on sustainability and responsible governance in international sports, where success is increasingly defined by impact, not just medals.

The event, held on the Kookmin University campus, coincides with an international forum hosted by the ISF and the university under the theme “The Future of the Sustainable Olympic Movement in Asia.” The forum aligns with ongoing global discussions about the environmental and social responsibilities associated with hosting major sporting events.

Captain Al-Musallam’s extensive experience—heading World Aquatics while serving as OCA’s Director General—positions him as a leading voice in shaping the future of Olympic sports management. He will deliver the forum’s keynote address, focusing on the long-term sustainability of the Olympic movement in Asia.

The graduate school is the first program of its kind to receive formal accreditation from the Olympic Council of Asia. It will offer one-year master’s degrees in ESG management and public policy, marking a significant step toward advancing academic research and leadership development in sports governance.
