MANAMA, Bahrain, Dec 17: Bahraini powerhouse Al-Muharraq dominated Kazma with a 92-64 victory at the Bahrain Federation Hall on the sidelines of Round 4, Group 1 of the West Asia Asian Super League – Gulf Zone.
The defeat dropped Kazma, known as the “Orange,” to fourth and last place with 5 points, marking its third straight loss. Al-Muharraq, meanwhile, strengthened its semi-final hopes, climbing to third place with 6 points, just behind UAE’s Sharjah and one point shy of leader Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia.
From the very first quarter, the difference between the teams was evident. Al-Muharraq surged ahead, finishing the opening quarter 25-10. Kazma coach Bojan Lazic struggled to contain Al-Muharraq’s top scorers, Nicholas Simon West (30 points), Timothy Lamont (21 points), and Mohammed Hammouda (17 points), leaving his team trailing 45-20 at halftime.
Kazma fought back through Ahmed Al-Bloushi (13 points), Jangwan Johnson (13 points), and Strahinja Mirković (17 points), but could not keep pace with the German-led Al-Muharraq squad under coach Peter Schomers.
