NAGOYA, Sept. 29: Kuwait’s shooters delivered a standout performance in the trap events at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, winning two gold and two bronze medals.
Khaled Al-Mudhaf claimed individual gold and teamed up with Talal Al-Rashidi and Abdulrahman Al-Feihan to win the men’s team title, giving Kuwait a double gold in the trap competition.
The Kuwaiti trio hit 355 targets to secure the team gold, underlining their consistency against the continent’s leading shooters.
Al-Mudhaf then added individual gold after hitting 26 targets, completing a memorable double at the Games.
The women also made their mark, with Hajar Abdulmalek, Sarah Al-Hawwal, and Shahad Al-Hawwal winning bronze in the team event after recording 325 targets.
Abdulmalek followed that achievement with an individual bronze after hitting 21 targets, becoming the first Kuwaiti woman to win an individual trap medal at the Asian Games.
The four-medal haul adds to Kuwait’s strong record in shooting at major continental competitions and rewards the athletes’ preparation and determination in Aichi-Nagoya.
Kuwait advanced to the squash team quarterfinals, keeping their medal hopes alive.
The team of Ammar Al-Tamimi, Jassem Al-Ghareeb, Khaled Al-Fawzan, and Bader Al-Maghribi will face India for a place in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Al-Dhafiri finished fifth in the men’s 800m final in 1:45.76.
Salem Al-Abkal will begin Kuwait’s golf campaign in the qualifiers at 1 am.
In shooting, Talal Al-Rashidi and Hajar Abdulmalek will compete in the mixed team trap qualifiers at 4 am, with the final scheduled for 8:30 am if they advance.
Amina Shah will compete in the sailing qualifiers at 5 am, while Nasser Bourjeeb begins the climbing qualifiers at 6:30 am.
Kuwait’s men’s squash team faces India in the quarterfinals at 8:30 am.
Padel duo Abdulaziz Redha and Fouad Behbehani will play in the second round of the men’s doubles at 12:30 pm.
