MUSCAT, July 11: Kuwait Volleyball Association president Dr. Jaber Al-Marri said the second West Asia Men's Volleyball Championship, which begins next Tuesday in Muscat, Oman, is not only a competition for silverware but also an opportunity to strengthen regional ties and promote the exchange of experience among participating teams.
Al-Marri said the tournament embodies the values of sportsmanship, mutual respect and fair play, expressing confidence that the Oman Volleyball Association will stage a successful championship befitting its growing stature.
He called on all participating teams to deliver their best performances, saying the event offers a chance to showcase the steady progress of volleyball across West Asia. He also wished every delegation success and expressed hope that the tournament would achieve its technical and organizational goals while contributing to the continued development of the sport throughout the region.
The draw placed Kuwait in Group A alongside Qatar and Syria. Group B features hosts Oman, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Lebanon.
Elsewhere, Al-Qadsia has finalized the technical and administrative staff for its first volleyball team ahead of the 2026-27 season as part of the club's preparations for the new campaign.
The technical staff will be led by Homer Alejandro as head coach, with Diego serving as assistant coach and Luciano Jorge appointed as team statistician.
On the administrative side, club board member Dr. Hussein Al-Qabandi has been named general manager of volleyball, while Mohammad Al-Damkhi will oversee the first team as manager.
The club believes the new structure will provide the stability needed to prepare the squad for the upcoming season and strengthen its bid to challenge for domestic titles while meeting the expectations of Al-Qadsia supporters.
