Al-Jalahma visits the Kuwait Boxing and Squash Federations to boost sports support

Boxing Federation management welcomes the Minister of Youth and Sports.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 9: As part of his hands-on approach since taking office, Dr. Tareq Al-Jalahma, Minister of State for Youth and Sports, visited the Kuwait Boxing Federation the day before yesterday. He was welcomed by federation chairman Abdullah Al-Otaibi and board members. The meeting focused on discussing key issues affecting the sport, identifying challenges and needs, and exploring ways for the ministry to better support national sports organizations.

The minister emphasized his commitment to fostering collaboration and backing initiatives that help realize the ambitions of Kuwaiti sports, with a particular focus on advancing boxing and elevating the overall sports sector.

Abdullah Al-Otaibi praised the minister’s initiative, noting that such visits help address priorities and remove obstacles, aiming to restore Kuwaiti sports to its former standing, enhance technical performance, and promote the country on international stages.

He added, “The meeting was productive. The minister listened to our main challenges and promised to help overcome them, laying the groundwork for the sport’s growth.” Al-Otaibi also highlighted the federation’s determination to develop boxing at both local and international levels, supported by the state’s strong commitment.

Following this, Minister Al-Jalahma visited the Kuwait Squash Federation, where he was received by federation president Waleed Al-Sumai’i, secretary-general Hamed Al-Omran, treasurer Mishal Al-Sharqawi, assistant secretary Hamad Al-Dughaym, and board members Omar Al-Qudaybi and Adel Al-Gharib.

The visit aimed to hear the federation’s feedback, review the challenges it faces, and work toward solutions to strengthen the sport in the future.
