‘Al-Ittihad's $10 million bid for Ashour rejected by Al Ahly’

CAIRO, July 20: Saudi side Al-Ittihad has seen a lucrative offer for Al Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour rejected, with the Egyptian club insisting the player is not for sale.

According to Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiyah, Al-Ittihad tabled a package worth $10 million, including a $6 million transfer fee and an annual salary of $4 million for the Egyptian international, as it seeks to bolster its midfield during the current transfer window.

The report said Al Ahly turned down the proposal because it values Ashour more highly, having invested around $6 million to bring him to the club in 2023. That figure includes a transfer fee of approximately $3 million paid to Danish club Midtjylland, along with nearly $3 million in wages over the past three seasons.

Ashour currently earns an estimated $315,000 per year at Al Ahly, meaning the Al-Ittihad offer would have increased his annual salary by more than twelvefold had the move been completed.

The report also revealed that Al-Ittihad has expressed interest in another Al Ahly midfielder, Marwan Attia, whose name has emerged as a potential transfer target during discussions over Ashour.
