Al-Ittihad moves for Ziyech as Wydad dispute escalates

RABAT, Sept 2: Libyan club Al-Ittihad has reportedly entered the race to sign Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech as his increasingly strained relationship with Wydad Casablanca puts his future at the club in doubt.

Ziyech was recently left out of Wydad’s training camp in Agadir by Coach Paulo Sergio. The Moroccan international believes club president Ibrahim Al-Asri was behind the decision after he refused to accept a reduction in his salary.

With the dispute showing no signs of being resolved, Al-Ittihad is looking to take advantage of the situation and bring Ziyech to Libya.

According to Africa Foot, the Libyan club has made a significant financial offer and is prepared to move quickly in negotiations by offering attractive terms to the former Chelsea and Ajax player.

No final decision has been reached, however, as Ziyech and Wydad continue to discuss his contractual situation.

Relations between the player and the Moroccan club have deteriorated in recent weeks amid financial, sporting, and disciplinary disagreements. Several meetings have been held to find a solution, but the two sides have yet to reach an agreement.

The dispute escalated further after Ziyech took to social media and accused Wydad president Ibrahim Al-Asri of lying.

Wydad is keen to end the standoff, while Ziyech remains determined to secure what he considers his contractual rights. If the dispute cannot be settled, the Moroccan could take the matter to FIFA, according to the same source.
