Al-Ittihad keeps winning as Al-Qadsiah stuns Al-Ahli

RIYADH, Sept 9: Al-Ittihad continued its strong run with a 2-1 victory over Al-Fayha in the sixth round of the Saudi Roshn League.

George Ilenikhena gave Al-Ittihad the lead in the 43rd minute, but Jason leveled the score for Al-Fayha in the fourth minute of first-half stoppage time.

Youssef En-Nesyri restored Al-Ittihad’s advantage from the penalty spot in the 68th minute, securing three valuable points.

The victory took Al-Ittihad to 14 points from six games, keeping it third in the standings, one point behind leaders Al-Hilal and Al-Qadsiah, who have 15 points each. Al-Fayha remained 11th with five points.

Al-Qadsiah, meanwhile, held off a spirited Al-Ahli comeback to claim a 3-2 home victory.

Tijjani Reijnders opened the scoring for Al-Qadsiah in the 14th minute, while Mohammed Abu Al-Shamat doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time. Reijnders then struck three minutes into added time again to put Al-Qadsiah 3-0 ahead.

Al-Ahli responded through Ivan Toney, who scored in the 63rd minute and again in the 82nd, but Al-Qadsiah held on to secure the win.

The result lifted Al-Qadsiah to 15 points, level with Al-Hilal at the top of the table, with the leaders ahead on goal difference. Al-Ahli remained seventh on nine points.
