Al-Irada wins Para Table Tennis Championship with 11-medal haul

KUWAIT CITY, June 29: Al-Irada Club emerged as overall champions of the first combined Para Table Tennis Clubs Championship for the 2026–2027 season after topping the medal standings with a total of 11 medals, including 3 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze.

Al-Warba Club secured second place with four medals (1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze), while Kuwait Disabled Sports Club finished third with two medals (1 gold, 1 silver). Al-Tahaddi Club came fourth with a single gold medal. The tournament concluded on Saturday evening at the Kuwait Disabled Sports Club hall, with the participation of more than 30 male and female players representing five clubs, and in the presence of Para Table Tennis Committee Chairman Duaij Al-Hajri, Table Tennis Federation President Falhan Al-Otaibi, and Kuwait Disabled Sports Club Chairman Shafi Al-Hajri.

The championship delivered strong technical standards and closely contested matches across men’s and women’s categories. In the men’s standing (A) category, Ali Al-Sanea of Al-Irada took first place, while Naji Sultan of Al-Warba won gold in the men’s standing (B) category.

In the seated events, Mohammed Bin Jabal of Al-Tahaddi secured gold in men’s seated (A), and Dari Al-Azmi claimed top spot in men’s seated (B). In the women’s seated category, Fajr Al-Khalaf of Al-Irada won gold, while Kuwait Disabled Sports Club’s Noura Al-Dubaib captured first place in the women’s standing competition.

Al-Hajri praised the strong participation from clubs in the inaugural championship, describing it as a technical and organizational success thanks to coordinated efforts and solid preparation from the participants.

He added that the competition was highly balanced and competitive, reflecting promising progress for Para Table Tennis in Kuwait, and stressed the need for continued development to achieve stronger results at Arab and Asian levels.

He also thanked the Kuwait Table Tennis Federation, led by Falhan Al-Otaibi, for its support and cooperation in ensuring the success of the event, expressing hope for further collaboration to develop the sport in the future.
