RIYADH, May 9: Al Hilal came from behind to defeat Al-Kholood 2-1 in the King’s Cup final, securing the trophy for a record-extending 10th time.

Al-Kholood made a dream start, taking the lead after just four minutes through Ramiro Enrique. However, Al Hilal responded strongly late in the first half, turning the game around in quick succession. Nasser Al-Dawsari equalised in the 42nd minute before French defender Theo Hernandez struck in stoppage time to seal the victory.

The win marks Al Hilal’s 10th King’s Cup title, adding to their previous triumphs in 1980, 1982, 1984, 1989, 2015, 2017, 2020, 2023, 2024, and 2026.

Club president Nawaf bin Saad expressed his joy at the achievement, describing the victory as the result of a difficult journey and intense competition that lasted until the final whistle.

In comments to “Thmanya” after the match, he said the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the attendance of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman gave the final added significance and honour, highlighting the importance of the trophy for the club and Saudi football.

He added that Al Hilal earned the title after a demanding campaign, noting the rising competitiveness of Saudi clubs this season, which has made every match a tough challenge.
