Players battling for the ball.

RIYADH, April 4: Today marks the commencement of the 27th round of the Saudi Football League (Roshan Professional League), signaling a brief hiatus afterward due to the Saudi Super Cup taking place in Abu Dhabi from April 8 to 11. The Super Cup will feature prominent clubs including Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, Al-Nasr, and Al-Wahda.

In today's fixtures, Al-Khaleej will face Al-Hilal, Damak will clash with Al-Nasr, Al-Ittihad will challenge Al-Taawoun, and Al-Wahda will take on Al-Ahly.

League leaders Al-Hilal aim to extend their remarkable winning streak and edge closer to securing the league title. Currently boasting a global record of 31 consecutive victories, Al-Hilal tops the standings with 74 points, maintaining a comfortable 12-point lead over rivals Al-Nasr.

On the other hand, Al-Khaleej looks to continue its positive momentum, having remained unbeaten in their last six matches, securing three wins and three draws. Positioned ninth with 34 points, Al-Khaleej aims to solidify their spot in the safety zone.

Elsewhere, Al-Nasr seeks to build on their recent triumphs, particularly after their impressive 8-0 victory over Abha, as they face Damak away from home. Damak, however, has struggled in their recent outings, securing only one point in their last three matches and slipping to eighth place with 35 points.

In another encounter, Al-Ittihad squares off against Al-Taawoun, with both teams eyeing a victory to maintain their positions in the league table. Al-Ittihad currently sits in fourth place with 46 points, while Al-Taawoun follows closely behind with the same points, aiming to continue their winning streak.

Lastly, Al-Ahly prepares for a challenging "derby" against Al-Wahda, following their victory over Al-Ittihad in the previous round. Al-Ahly holds third place with 51 points, while Al-Wahda seeks a morale-boosting win ahead of their anticipated match against Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Super Cup semi-finals. The round's action continues tomorrow, with Al-Ettifaq hosting Riyadh and Al-Shabab facing Al-Ta'i as guests.
