Al Habtoor updated on progress of Expo 2020

DUBAI, UAE, Feb 2: Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor received Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy at his office on Al Wasl Road on Monday Feb 1. HE Al Hashimy updated the Al Habtoor Group Chairman on the progress of the EXPO 2020 and to hear his thoughts on how to make a lasting impression on visitors. Her Excellency said “The Expo 2020 Dubai is expected to attract 25 million visits.” Al Hashimy is the UAE’s Minister of State and CEO of the Dubai World Expo 2020 Bid Committee.

The minister informed the chairman that the Dubai Expo 2020 would coincide with the UAE’s Golden Jubilee celebrations the following year. She added, “We need to ensure that we do something really impressive that leaves a meaningful legacy for the country. It is very important that we utilize the facilities for decades to come and not just for the exhibition. It has to be sustainable.” World Expo, one of the world’s oldest and largest international events, will take place in Dubai from Oct 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021.

It marks the first time the World Expo will be staged in the Middle East. The event last six months and typically attracts millions of visitors who explore pavilions and exhibits staged by hundreds of participating nations. Al Habtoor said he was very impressed with the progress and thought that is going into the event. He praised the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The theme of the Dubai EXPO is Connecting Minds, Creating the Future. The overall theme recognises that generating sustainable solutions to global problems demands collaboration across cultures and regions whilst the subthemes of Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability define the principal drivers of progress.
