KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3: Kuwait’s veterans ended their campaign in the second Gulf Veterans Football Cup with a 1-0 victory over Oman in the final round of Group A, but the win was not enough to secure a place in the next stage.

Goalkeeper Khaled Al-Fadhli proved to be the unlikely hero, scoring the decisive goal in stoppage time after coming on as a second-half substitute and playing as a striker.

Kuwait finished third in the group with four points, behind Saudi Arabia, who topped the standings with seven points, and Iraq, who secured second place with six.

The Blues began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Saudi Arabia before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Iraq in the second round.
