BELGRADE, Aug 3: Kuwaiti handball coach Waleed Al-Enezi has announced that he will not be part of Montenegro’s national team technical staff for its match against Israel today at the European Under-18 Championship in Serbia.
Al-Enezi said his decision reflects his personal principles and his commitment to Kuwait’s position in support of the Palestinian cause.
He stressed that sport, regardless of its significance and the professional opportunities it offers, should not come before humanitarian values and principles, adding that his stance is based on a firm belief that cannot be compromised.
“Whatever the importance of sporting events and professional competitions, principles and humanitarian values remain above all else,” Al-Enezi said. “This decision represents a part of my journey and a message that I will always be proud of.”
Al-Enezi’s position highlights his commitment to his principles and his solidarity with the Palestinian people, while aligning with Kuwait’s longstanding stance in support of the Palestinian cause and against normalization with Israel.
