‘New nations tapped for low cost’

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 6: Al-Durra Company for Recruitment of Domestic Labor has brought nearly 900 male and female domestic workers into the country since September 2017 when the company started receiving applications of citizens and expatriates for domestic workers until now, reports Al-Rai daily quoting informed sources.

They said Al-Durra has nearly 150 contracts currently under implementation, indicating that most applications come from Sri Lanka and the lowest from Burkina Faso.

The sources revealed that the company brought nearby 190 domestic workers from India including 50 males and 40 females, 700 domestic workers from Sri Lanka including 650 women and 50 men, 24 from the Philippines and three domestic workers from Burkina Faso.

They indicated that the company is exerting efforts to allow the hiring of domestic workers from new countries at suitable financial cost in coordination with Ministry of Interior.
