KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3, (KUNA): A Kuwaiti swimmer won a gold medal Saturday in the 200m breaststroke event of the 8th Asian Age Group Championships, currently held in Bangkok, Thailand with participation of 31 countries.

In the tourney’s third day, swimmer Ahmad Al-Bader ended the competition, 18 year-old and above category, in 02:16.76 minutes, Coach Ayman Al-Enezi, head of the Kuwaiti team, stated to KUNA. Meanwhile, swimmer Yousef Al-Loughani finished in fourth place in the same event, Al-Enezi noted, adding that Japan won the first and third places, while Hong Kong won the second place.

He also commended the support and encouragement by Husain Al-Musallam, First Vice President of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), to Kuwaiti swimmers in the Asian tourney which increased their spirits and determination to achieve better results.

The 8th Asian championship for age group is held under the auspices of the Asia Swimming Federation (AASF) and is to last until Oct 7th.
