KUWAIT CITY, April 23: The Saud Abdulaziz Al-Babtain Center for Burns and Plastic Surgery has announced treating over 10,000 patients and conducting more than 1,600 surgical procedures during the year 2023. Additionally, the center hosted a delegation of renowned plastic surgeons from across the globe.

Dr. Muhammad Khalaf, Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Head of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department at the center revealed in an interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Tuesday that the center recently concluded a workshop focusing on complex facial plastic and reconstructive surgeries, as well as microscopic procedures. This workshop featured the participation of prominent plastic surgeons worldwide.

Dr. Khalaf explained that the workshop included patient examinations and advanced surgical procedures conducted in collaboration with Kuwaiti facial plastic surgery specialists to present the latest advancements in plastic and reconstructive surgeries. The workshop, held concurrently with the Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Conference, aimed to facilitate knowledge exchange with international experts and highlight Kuwait's advanced medical capabilities in burns and plastic surgery treatment.

He emphasized that the workshop and conference attracted global plastic surgery experts to enhance the medical system, improve patient care quality, and provide training opportunities for medical professionals. The center plans to organize several scientific events soon, starting with hosting Professor Naeem Momen from Britain in May to examine and treat patients with advanced burns. This will be followed by an advanced anatomical workshop for facial restoration and beautification in collaboration with Kuwait University's College of Medicine.

Dr. Khalaf stated that these consecutive events primarily aim to elevate the expertise of local practitioners in reconstructive, plastic surgery, and burns treatment while contributing to the development of medical services provided to patients.

Professor Yves Saban, a renowned rhinoplasty and plastic surgery expert, expressed his satisfaction with Kuwait's medical facilities and local talent, looking forward to further collaboration. Similarly, Korean Professor J.W. Choi expressed pride in his invitation, noting the success of advanced surgical procedures conducted during his visit.
